This concentration invites students to encounter Ghana's heritage through Ghanaian perspectives. Guided visits and reflection help the group explore how history connects with identity, culture and the wider world.
What students do
- Cape Coast or Elmina. Join a guided castle visit and an age-appropriate discussion of the transatlantic slave trade. Allow time to process what students have heard.
- Independence and nationhood. Explore relevant heritage sites in Accra and connect people, places and events in Ghana's independence story.
- Asante heritage. On a route that includes Kumasi, explore Asante history, leadership and artistic traditions with knowledgeable hosts.
- Living heritage. Hear community stories and explore a host-led naming or cultural ceremony where selected. Recording or sharing follows host permission.
